Rolling StoneI thought this magazine cover was interesting because of its controversial elements: including a harmless-looking portrait of the "Boston Bomber," was a "popular, promising student." Rolling Stone Magazine is not known to report on subjects other than music (and when they do, it's not enlarged on the from cover). On the left of the cover, various excerpts about music seem less important, with the words "THE BOMBER" bolder and larger on the right side. The topography and text on the cover has a direct relation to the importance of the titles. |
TIMEThe simplicity of TIME's cover featuring Taylor Swift is an important element of the design. Taylor's face draws the attention of the reader, who then looks to the simple white text to the right of her gaze. The text is incredibly fitting, because her intense stare is powerful and intriguing, and the text describes Swift as having "power." |
New YorkThis magazine is almost comical and satirical towards Bernie Madoff. The cover shows a portrait of Madoff with a photoshopped joker smile, a washed-out white face, black circles under his red eyes, and long green-tinted gray hair--all features of The Joker. The title illustrates Madoff as having the occupation of a "Monster." |
